CliniAtlas for gps and family doctors
# CliniAtlas for GPs and family doctors
Ten minutes per patient leaves no time for a literature search. What a GP needs is one question answered once, from the right document, with a source that can go in the note. CliniAtlas retrieves the EMA product information for the drug question, the European guideline for the threshold question, and PubMed or Europe PMC for the 'is there any evidence' question, and links the evidence it retrieves. Any general-knowledge guidance is labelled separately.

## Questions gps and family doctors ask it
Evidence-search links open with the question already typed in. The study example opens CliniAtlas Learn.
- What does European product information say about metformin dosing at reduced eGFR? Ask CliniAtlas (https://cliniatlas.com/?q=What%20does%20European%20product%20information%20say%20about%20metformin%20dosing%20at%20reduced%20eGFR%3F)

## How it fits the work

### Drug questions answered from the label
Ask about dose adjustment, contraindications, and listed interactions. CliniAtlas searches official product information, including EMA sources, and links retrieved material so you can check the wording and jurisdiction. Coverage varies by product and question.

### Guideline questions answered from the guideline
Thresholds, targets, and referral criteria come from European society guidelines, and from NICE when the question concerns UK practice, with the recommendation and its evidence grade shown together.

### A citation you can put in the note
Retrieved evidence has linked sources with study-type labels. General-knowledge guidance is marked separately. When a patient asks why, or a colleague asks on what basis, the answer is one click away.

### Answers you can share with the practice
Any answer can be shared with colleagues by link, so a question one partner answers on Monday does not get searched again on Tuesday.

## What it will not do
CliniAtlas answers general clinical questions and instructs you not to enter patient identifiers. It is not a patient-specific decision-support system, does not replace your clinical judgement or your national formulary, and every answer is the start of appraisal rather than the end of it.
Free for verified clinicians and students. Sources include PubMed, Europe PMC, EMA product information and European guidelines. Retrieved evidence has source links and study-type labels; general-knowledge guidance is marked separately. The application and stored data are in the EU; AI processing may occur outside the EU. ## Frequently asked questions

**Is CliniAtlas free for GPs?**
Yes. It is free for verified healthcare professionals. Sign up with your professional details, confirm your status, and use the web app or the iPhone app.

**Can I ask in my own language?**
Yes. Ask in English, German, Italian, Spanish, Polish, or Croatian and the answer comes back in that language, with the original sources linked.

**Does it replace UpToDate?**
CliniAtlas searches for evidence in response to a question; UpToDate provides curated topic reviews. They serve different reading needs. The comparison page explains the distinction without claiming that either replaces all the functions of the other.

**I practise in the UK. Does it use NICE?**
Yes. For UK questions CliniAtlas retrieves NICE guidance alongside the literature. The UK comparison page covers the details.

**Can I enter details of a patient?**
No. Ask the general question instead: the evidence for a treatment in a population, the label wording for a drug, the guideline threshold. Its safeguards are designed to redirect patient-specific questions toward general evidence, but you should remove identifying details yourself.
